Martin Blank — Camera Acting Coach

With over 35 years of experience, Martin Blank is a respected acting coach known for his supportive, results-driven approach. He offers coaching both in person in Washington, D.C, and online. Martin is celebrated for developing rapid, effective techniques for actors—what he calls “acting steroids”—to unlock their full potential. Aside from his studio, Martin has coached actors for on-Camera work at The Woolly Mammoth Theater Company School, Theater J, The American Place Theater in NYC, and the Beverly Hills Playhouse in Los Angeles.

Martin’s students have gone on to book co-star, guest star, and recurring roles in a wide range of acclaimed television series, including Blindspot, Bones, Bull, CSI, Dexter, Difficult People, The Equalizer, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, God Friended Me, Grimm, Homicide: Life on the Street, House of Cards, How to Get Away with Murder, The Inspectors, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Organized Crime, NCIS, Oz, The Resident, The Staircase, Succession, The Summer I Turned Pretty, S.W.A.T., Turn, The Wire, Xena: Warrior Princess, and many more.

Students have been in two-character scenes in major motion pictures with F. Murray Abraham, Matt Damon, Daniel Day-Lewis, Richard Gere, Gal Gadot, Tom Hanks, Woody Harrelson, Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, and Julia Roberts.

Students of Martin’s coaching have been accepted into top-tier training programs including The Yale School of Drama, University of Southern California (USC), University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s MFA program.

Martin’s professional background includes serving as Literary Manager at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Artistic Associate at the American Place Theatre in New York City, and Founding Artistic Director of Theater J. He attended the University of Maryland and the Yale School of Drama.
